Our venison is sourced by a small team of professional stalkers as part of a wider local conservation and land management activity in East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent. An essential part of maintaining the health of our countryside, wild venison is a delicious and healthy bonus!
Why Choose Va Va Venison?
- Local -
All our venison is from around Sussex and Kent and is fully traceable. We don’t export our venison to other countries or even much further than the South-East! Buying local wild meat from local producers reduces your carbon footprint, supports local businesses and contributes to the conservation of your area.
- Sustainable -
Wild deer are undoubtedly an important and beautiful species but, with no natural predators and an alarming breeding rate, the population has exploded and the impact on UK woodland biodiversity has become a major problem. In a nutshell, managing deer numbers is essential for the overall health of the countryside AND the species. This, combined with its nutritional benefits and the fact that transportation and the use of fossil fuels are miniscule in comparison to the production of other foods, makes wild venison likely one of the most sustainable foods available to us.
- Wild -
Not all venison is equal! Studies show that farmed venison has as much if not more of a negative impact on the environment as sheep or cows. Meat from a free-roaming, naturally-fed, antibiotic-free, wild animal beats soy-fed, intensively reared meat any day of the week!
